Obliviousness
One of the big takeaways from learning about type is the opportunity to get a better idea of the impact we each have on situations and people. I have borrowed the word obliviot from a friend of a friend. It refers to people who seem to have no awareness of their bad behavior. I bristle when such people walk into a room I’m in. Some people will move away or even leave the room upon their entrance. I witnessed such an event recently and was first upset at how others were treating the person. Then when I realized this was happening because the person was overly needy, was interrupting others, and was downright rude, I understood. I tried to offer friendly feedback to this person, but it didn’t seem to help.
Learning how we take in information, how we make decisions, and which world (outer or inner) energizes us can really help us be more effective and productive people. How can we take responsibility for ourselves and the life we lead? I’m not saying we shouldn’t honor who we are. I am saying that some situations call for us to flex and to never use our personality type as an excuse.

Great perspective! I’ve had a breakthrough with my MBTI report, but it is always good keep in mind that “some situations call for us to flex and to never use our personality type as an excuse”. Thanks, Michael.
Thanks João! It was great meeting you last week. I hope your trip home was uneventful.
